The Children's Trust
Foundation Family Support Program Grants
Since 1997 Children's Trust
Foundation has provided our Family Support
Program Grants to family centers across the
state of Washington in an effort to enhance
services to children and families.
Grants range from $5,000 to $15,000 each and
are given in support of child abuse
prevention programs that help strengthen the
parent-child bond.
In
May 2008, Children’s Trust Foundation has
awarded 14 grants totaling more than
$150,000. This is the largest annual total
since the Foundation’s inception in
1982.
The Family Support Program
Grants will fund child abuse prevention
programs that strengthen the parent-child
bond and build upon families’ existing
strengths. This year’s grant recipients
include family centers in Spokane, Seattle,
Friday Harbor and Darrington.

Children’s Trust Foundation
is the only private, non-profit organization
in Washington focused exclusively on funding
programs in Family Support Centers across
the state that work to create healthy, happy
homes for parents and children. The
Foundation’s mission is to prevent child
abuse and neglect by giving families the
opportunity to learn parenting skills in a
safe and supportive environment.
“Through the family centers
that we support, parents learn how to
nurture, discipline, communicate with and
bond with their children,” said Tara James,
the Foundation’s executive director.
“Inexperienced parents, those who are
struggling, and those who simply want to
strengthen their parenting skills are able
to build positive relationships that last a
lifetime.”
Some 80 Family Support Centers currently
serve families throughout the state. To

About the Grants
Every January
Children's Trust Foundation mails a request
for proposals to family centers in
Washington. To
be eligible, Family Centers
must be site-based, grounded in family
support principles, and offer a variety of
programs designed to strengthen the
relationship between parent and child.
Priority is
given to programs that increase specific
protective factors in children's lives:
