Elliott Westerman

Board of Directors Treasurer

Finance Committee Chair

Elliott Westerman joined the board in April 2008. His primary occupation is Senior Real Estate Analyst at Emeritus Corporation.  In his current role, he underwrites real estate transactions, structures financing, works with lenders, and analyzes potential dispositions. Elliott’s background in finance and economics is utilized by Children’s Trust Foundation as he serves the Board of Directors as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committee.

Prior to working at Emeritus, Elliott’s work experience included roles at Kennedy Associates Real Estate Counsel in its Asset Management and Portfolio Management/Research Departments.  Prior to his time there, he worked at Starbucks Coffee Company in its Global Strategy Group.

Elliott holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Seattle University and a Bachelor of Science in Geography with Honors (focusing on Economics and Geographic Information Science/Cartography) from Pennsylvania State University. As an undergraduate, Elliott received the Andrew Mutch Scholarship from the St. Andrew’s Society of Philadelphia, enabling him to study for one year at the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom.

As part of his undergraduate thesis project and paper, Elliott presented primary research on urban and rural poverty at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research and the Appalachian Regional Commission in Washington, D.C. His research focused on the relationship between child health, education and economic vitality of places and regions. Ultimately, the results supported the notion that preventative actions are able to improve local economic conditions and improve an individual’s ability to be a positive contributor to society. This experience sparked Elliott’s interest in the Children’s Trust and how to prevent child abuse and neglect through preventative measures and family support.

Elliott is excited to participate in expanding Children’s Trust Foundation’s fundraising initiatives in the coming year and to raise awareness on the possibility of preventing child abuse and neglect. "Too many people do not look at child abuse in this way,” he says, and “Children’s Trust Foundation is working to change that.”
